THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION – HIGHWAY DIVISION NOTICE OF A PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING Project File No. 606527 A Public Informational Meeting will be held by MassDOT to discuss the proposed Superstructure Replacement, N-06-020, I-195 (EB & WB) Ramp C & F over ST 18, County Street, State Street, Mass Coastal Railroad, Purchase Street, Weld Street, Includes Replacing N-06-046, I-195 (EB) Ramp F over Weld Street in New Bedford, MA. WHERE: Hayden McFadden Elementary School, Auditorium 361 Cedar Grove St, New Bedford, MA 02746 New Bedford, MA 02746 WHEN: Wednesday, October 25, 2023 @ 6:30 pm PURPOSE: The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Superstructure Replacement, N-06-020, I-195 (EB & WB) Ramp C & F over ST 18, County Street, State Street, Mass Coastal Railroad, Purchase Street, Weld Street, Includes Replacing N-06-046, I-195 (EB) Ramp F over Weld Street project. All views and comments made at the meeting will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible. PROPOSAL: The proposed project consists of a full replacement of the I-195 bridge between County Street and Route 18 NB. The new bridge will be constructed with longer spans with half the number of piers providing for a more open feel and sightlines. The bridge and ramps will be widened to improve geometry between the Route 18 Ramps (C and D). The scope will also include the full replacement of the aforementioned Ramps C, D and F; noise wall construction along Cedar Grove Street between Purchase Street and Mt. Pleasant Street; new retaining wall along Cedar Grove Street between County Street and westbound on-ramp (Ramp A); highway drainage system; landscape improvements including paved shared use paths in accordance with applicable design guides, ornamental lights and benches in the Route 18 infields; new roadway lighting; ornamental bridge lighting; milling and paving impacted streets, reconstructed parking lots and skate park under I-195 near Hayden McFadden Elementary School; and new medians, parapets and fascia painting on the bridges carrying I-195 over North Front Street, Belleville Avenue, and the Acushnet River. This location is accessible to people with disabilities.
