This project consists of intersection improvements to Boyson Road and N. 12th Avenue in Hiawatha, IA. The project will replace the existing 2-way stop controlled intersection to a single lane roundabout. Sidewalk and trail pavement, including cross walks, will also be replaced directly surrounding the intersection. New street lights, two storm sewer intakes, and minor landscaping will be installed around the intersection. There will be no pre-bid meeting Project has an early Start Date of April 1, 2024. Contractor shall have the project substantially completed by Friday, September 27, 2024 and final completion by Friday, October 11, 2024. All paperwork shall be completed by Friday, November 8, 2024. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for anaward. Liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed by this date. Liquidated damages stop when all traffic can free flow with no stoppages. This includes all striping. The City of Hiawatha, Iowa does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the jurisdiction. No pre-bid meeting will be held for this project.
