Project Description: Masonry repairs to Historic Monument Terrace; the City's landmark, war memorial, and pedestrian pathway consisting of a vertical series of terraces and stairs climbing the historic hillside to connect Church and Court Streets with multiple buildings and Mr. Elder's Rose Garden. Repairs include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Repoint or seal deteriorated mortar in the limestone balustrade and walls. 2. Repoint deteriorated mortar in the decorative brick terraces and sidewalk along Church Street 3. Remove and reinstall a settled bench and associated limestone walls on the Spanish America War Memorial terrace. 4. Replace caulk joints in memorials wall and/or benches. Question Deadline 10/30/2023 at 2:00 PM ET All requests for clarification of or questions regarding this Advertisement for Bids or for additional information must be made in writing to Will Ruberry at william.ruberry@lynchburgva.gov and received Bidder's Bid Bond for 5% of Base Bid Amount Issued. The undersigned hereby agrees, if awarded the Construction Agreement, to execute and deliver to the City within ten (10) days after his receipt of the Notice of Award, a performance bond and a payment bond, in forms satisfactory to the City, from sureties authorized to do business in Virginia satisfactory to the City, in the amount of one hundred (100) percent of the Base Bid. The undersigned further agrees that, in case of failure on his part to execute the said Construction Agreement within the ten (10) days after written notice being given on the award of the Construction Agreement or the failure to deliver the required performance and payment bonds within the ten (10) days, the monies payable by the Security accompanying this bid shall be paid to the City of Lynchburg, Virginia, as liquidated damages for such failure; otherwise the Security accompanying this Bid shall be returned to the undersigned. The Owner, without invalidating the Contract and without notice to the surety, may order a change to the Work consisting of additions, deletions or other revisions to the general scope of the Contract, or changes in the sequence of the performance of the Work. The Contract Sum and the Contract Time shall be adjusted accordingly.
