Prebid Conference: A Pre-Bid Conference will not be held for this IFB The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as "VDOT") is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide a Steel Structure as per the specifications. PERIOD OF CONTRACT: From date of award through January 24, 2024. (nonrenewable) Any questions regarding this invitation for bid shall be addressed to Robert Dowdle at Robert.Dowdle@VDOT.virginia.gov. The issuing office shall determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions or other matters raised. Provide questions no later than 5:00 PM EST five days prior to IFB close. Structure Number: 6162 DESCRIPTION: Steel structure - Complete in accordance with attached Steel Beam drawings. Structure Data: Roadway width: 20'-0" (face to face of rails) Skew: 0 degrees W-Shape: W18 X 97 and W18 X 35 Number of spans: 2 Beam length: 44'-11" and 17'-2" Number of Beams: 11 per span, 22 total Type anchorage: TX at both Abutments, BX at Pier Approximate weight: 66,100 (lbs.) Capacity: HL-93 Loading. Designed using AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, 7th Edition, 2014; and VDOT Modifications All materials shall conform to the requirements of the 2020 Virginia Department of Transportation Road and Bridge Specifications. Structural steel shall be ASTM A709, Grade 50. Rolled beams may be supplied in accordance with ASTM A992 with supplemental test S5 for Charpy V-Notch Impact testing. Test values shall meet the requirements given in ASTM A709 for Zone 2. All structural steel including bearings shall be hot dipped galvanized in accordance with Section 233 of the Specifications. Shop drawings shall be submitted to VDOT within 30 days of award of contract.
