Elevator Modernization The University of Akron has authorized the Department of Capital Planning and Facilities Management to request qualifications for Professional Design Services for the modernization of three elevators within three buildings on the Akron campus. The University of Akron has authorized the Department of Capital Planning and Facilities Management to request qualifications for Professional Design Services for the modernization of three elevators within three buildings on the Akron campus: Leigh Hall, the existing elevator was installed in 1964, with 5 landings and a 44 foot rise, the Buckingham buiding, installed in 1979, with 4 landings and a 30 foot rise, and the Physical Facilities Operation Center, installed in 1940, with 3 landings, and a 24 foot rise. Full elevator modernization shall include all changes required under current fire, electrical, elevator, and other applicable codes. Work will include the modernization of controller, drive machines, travel and leveling devices, governor, car and counterweight buffers, door operators, door locks, interlocks, and rails, door restrictors, door rollers and gibbs, door spirators and or closers, hoist way access at all landings, full cab modernization, hall call stations, directional signals, and position indicators, and other issues as required. EDGE PARTICIPATION: 5% The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
