The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company has been selected by The University of Maryland, College Park Department of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing to provide full design-build services for the Stanley R. Zupnik Hall Project in College Park, MD. The project is currently in the preconstruction / design development phase. We invite trade subcontractors to submit Prequalifications to participate in pursuing the Delegated-Design Subcontractor Trade Package listed below. No other bid packages are being solicited at this time. Please note that all subcontractors must be prequalified by The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in order for their bid proposal to be considered. The proposed Interdisciplinary Engineering Building involves the construction of a new, six-story structure plus basement with an approximate size of 160,000 GSF. The building includes six primary levels including the basement, occupied by offices, instructional space, research laboratories, seminar rooms, conference rooms, and support space. The upper level is used as an enclosed mechanical penthouse, with portions acting as exterior roof wells for outdoor mechanical equipment. The northeast main entrance will feature a multi-story atrium that extends from the basement through fifth floors. The building steps out beyond the first floor footprint on the north, east, and south sides of the building to provide additional square footage. This project will be pursuing minimum LEED Silver Certification under LEED v4 for New Construction. Anticipated Schedule: . Prequalification Period: Prequalification's will be accepted until 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. . Bid Documents to be issued Mid-Late October 2023 (tentative). . Bid Proposals from prequalified bidders will be due by TBD. . Anticipated Intent to Award Trade Packages Late Fall 2023. . Construction Start: Project Construction Underway, Mass Timber Materials Onsite by Fall 2024. Prequalification Directions: . Contact Tad.Shifflett@Whiting-Turner.com and Andrew.Imirie@Whiting-Turner.com to request prequalification forms . Complete the forms and email to: Tad Shifflett and Andrew Imirie This project has a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) participation goal of thirty percent (30%) with subgoals of eight percent (8%) African American-Owned and eleven percent (11%) Women-Owned businesses. All MBE subcontractors and suppliers must be certified by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) in order for contract dollars to be counted toward project goals. This is a Best Value procurement. During the balance of the preconstruction / design phase, the successful proposers will become valuable teammates to assist the design-build team with completion of the applicable portions of design while commencing with shop drawings and engineering. The proposer will submit both Technical and Price Proposals which will be evaluated on experience, project approach, personnel, MBE participation and price. An initial preconstruction GMP will be developed during design, and it is our intent to convert the GMP to a lump sum contract at the end of preconstruction for the applicable bid package. Approval of the final GMP and continuation of service into the Construction Phase will be dependent on the subcontractor successfully fulfilling the scope of services during the Preconstruction Phase, maintaining the subcontractor's target budget, and the final approval of project funding by the Owner.
