The Project Work to be performed consists of furnishing all labor for the installation or replacement of the following: 1) Remove steel casing pipe and replace approximately 35' of 8" PVC carrier water pipe with new 8" PVC, and all associated fittings. The existing water pipe to be replaced is located in the steel beam framework located beneath the Route 12 Bridge. The broken pipe is near the west side of the bridge. 2) Remove steel casing pipe and replace one existing 8" valve on the east side of the bridge. The existing valve to be replaced is located in the steel framework located beneath the Route 12 Bridge. 3) Install two blow-offs on the main. 3) All water pipe materials will be supplied by RAWA as described on the Plans. 4) All work shall be completed from beneath the bridge. Qualified bidders shall be able to demonstrate relevant experience with the installation of utilities on bridge structures. Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Attention is called to the fact that prevailing minimum wage rates as determined by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry must be paid to the Contractors on this project and that employees and applicants for employment shall not be discriminated against because of their race, age, color, religion, sex, national origin, or handicap. Each Bidder is required to meet the requirements of Public Works Employment Verification Act, Act 127 of 2012. CLARIFICATION DEADLINE 10/17/2023 4:00 PM The Reading Area Water Authority, Owner hereby reserves the right, which is understood and agreed to by all bidders, to refuse and reject any or all bids submitted, and also reserves the right to waive any informality in bids received.
