The Work to be performed for the project includes supplying all labor, equipment, and materials for the construction of modifications to the existing sewage collection system and two prepackaged sewage pump stations. All site restoration is included in the project. The Work must be substantially completed within one hundred eighty (180) days from the issue of the Notice to Proceed. Each Proposal for the Project shall be accompanied by a Bid Security in the form provided by the Contract Documents, drawn to the order of the Bern Township Municipal Authority, and in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the extended Bid Amount, as a guarantee that if the Proposal is accepted, a Contract will be entered into and the performance thereby properly secured. Attention is called to the fact that prevailing minimum wage rates as determined by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry must be paid by the Contractors on this project and that employees and applicants for employment shall not be discriminated against because of their race, age, color, religion, sex, national origin, or handicap. Each Bidder is required to meet the requirements of Public Works Employment Verification Act, Act 127 of 2012. All excavation performed for the work shall be UNCLASSIFIED. a) Mobilize and install E&S controls as shown on the drawings. Coordinate with OWNERis staff on staging area, equipment and material storage. b) The CONTRACTOR shall retain a professional photographer to videotape the entire project area prior to initiating any work. A copy of the video record shall be provided to the OWNER and ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR shall also take still photographs as needed to supplement the video record. Particular attention shall be paid to landscaping, curbing, driveways, pavement conditions, and pavement markings. c) Install detour signage as may be needed during the project and in accordance with an approved detour plan. Contractor shall coordinate placement of signage and timing of detours with Township staff and Township Police prior to commencing the Work. d) Construct sewer mains with appropriate size and class of pipe as shown on the drawings. Furnish and install bypass pumping operations as necessary n there is no separate payment for bypass pumping. Temporary, water-tight tie-ins shall be made between the new pipe and existing pipe at the conclusion of each work day. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible to completely remove and dispose of existing sanitary sewer pipe. e) Demolish existing manholes and install manholes in accordance with the drawings and specifications. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible to completely remove and dispose of existing manholes. f) Install new sewage pumping stations, meter pits, and ancillary equipment. Make appropriate electrical connections to existing electrical services and extend service lines to new pump stations. g) Test all new sanitary sewer mains in accordance with the specifications. Sanitary sewer testing shall include a television inspection of the completed sanitary sewer line. h) Perform start-up of all new equipment. i) Restore all trenches as shown on the drawings. j) Restore all lawn areas disturbed during constriction. k) Construct fencing, gates and driveways as required. l) Mill limits, intersections and edge of cart way as scheduled. m) Install roadway paving overlay for full cart way. n) Install traffic markings and lines as required. o) Restore unpaved and paved areas in easement areas equal to condition prior to construction. All paving activity shall be performed in accordance with PA DOT Publication 408, latest edition. p) Demobilize and remove stored material, equipment and detour signs.
