https://tylerpaper.com/news/texas/unofficial-results-show-prosper-isd-voters-rejecting-new-94-million-sports-stadium/article_acd94b1c-59ba-59a0-a67d-ae085f57de8c.html Unofficial election results show voters rejecting a proposal for a new $94 million athletic stadium in Prosper ISD. Just fewer than 45% of voters were in favor of the bond — one of four in the district’s $2.8 billion package — and 55% were against. Prop C would have included more than $102 million to “improve and expand the district’s athletic facilities, including the construction of a new stadium with seating for 8,000 and an 8-lane track,” according to a district website explaining the bond package. Voters approved the other three bond issues in the package, according to unofficial election results. Proposition A includes $2.4 billion to build new schools and support facilities and modernize existing schools, as well as to reinforce safety and security measures, buy land for eight new schools, and provide transportation; it appears to have passed with 65% of votes in favor. ---------------------------- https://communityimpact.com/dallas-fort-worth/prosper-celina/education/2023/11/28/prosper-isd-to-partner-with-huckabee-for-13-construction-projects Dec 12, 2023 Prosper ISD to partner with Huckabee for 13 construction projects Prosper ISD officials authorized the district to partner with Huckabee Inc. for several of its future construction projects. The district's board of trustees approved the partnership during a Nov. 13 meeting. The approach The district received around 19 proposals after it opened a request for architects across the state to submit their proposals, PISD Deputy Superintendent Greg Bradley said. District officials then identified four companies that were qualified. PISD has worked with Huckabee on construction projects for almost 20 years, Bradley said."Over that time, Huckabee has been a fantastic partner to this district," he said. The district designs its new campuses with prototypes. Since Folsom Elementary School was designed, the prototype of the school has been used 19 times, Bradley said. Huckabee provides a 1.5% discount on prototypes opposed to a new design which he said has saved the district around $17.5 million over the past 15 years. "[This is] the right partner and a partner that's earned that through the relationship and the service they provided over the years," Bradley said. He went on to explain that the district can pull out of the relationship--with no fee--if district officials feel it is not getting the quality of service it wants. Another advantage to beginning contracts early is to mitigate supply chain issues by ordering similar materials, such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, for multiple schools at once, Bradley said."While this is a large amount of work, it would free us to move forward," Bradley said. The specifics The district is looking to partner with Huckabee on several projects included in the 2023 bond package as well as other construction needs. This includes rebuilding Rucker Elementary School and renovations and additions to Reynolds and Rogers middle schools. It also includes building: Elementary Schools No. 21-25 The second early childhood school Middle Schools No. 7- 8 High Schools No. 5 An outdoor learning experience Looking ahead Prosper ISD officials broke ground on Richland High School on Aug. 4 which is expected to open in August 2025. More information on construction projects in the district can be found here. _________________________________________ New Performing Arts Center, providing a space for students to perform in dance, theater, music, and the visual arts.
