A. The work of this section includes the coating of all interior surfaces, and the painting of all exterior surfaces. B. Lead abatement activities shall be sole responsibility of the Contractor. Contractor shall prepare a lead abatement and disposal plan for work to be done on the interior of the tank for review. If lead is shown to be present in the existing paint system, the plan shall include sampling, testing, background testing for workers, safety equipment and disposal methods. All work associated with the plan and any necessary lead abatement shall be included as a portion of the Contractor's bid. C. Contractor shall repair all damaged areas by filling pits by welding at the price provided in his Bid Proposal. Where welding of areas of excessive pitting is not practical in the opinion of the Engineer, Contractor shall prepare a section of 1/4 " thick steel plate to conform to the tank radius and seal weld the plate to the tank at the price provided in his Bid Proposal. This project is generally described as rehabilitating and painting (2) 12,000-gallon ground storage tanks, (2) 16,000 gallons ground storage tanks, and all associated work. A bid bond in the amount of 5 percent of the Bid issued by an acceptable surety shall be submitted with each Bid. A certified check or bank draft payable to the City of Petrolia or negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (as par value) may be submitted in lieu of the Bid Bond. Performance and Payment Bonds, Requires all prime contractors who enter into a formal contract in excess of $25,000 with the State, any department, board, agency, municipality, county, school district, or any division or subdivision thereof to obtain a Payment Bond in the amount of the Contract before commencing with work and a performance bond for public works contracts in excess of $100,000. The City of Petrolia reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding.
