The Independent Contractor shall remove the existing 24'- 5'' x 5'- 6'' single ply roofing and coping. The Independent Contractor shall provide and install new single ply roofing and coping to fit 24'- 5'' x 5'- 6''. The Independent Contractor shall replace any rotten wood or rusted metal found after demolition. The Independent Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment and services to furnish and install single ply roofing, flashing, trim and all other accessories to make the system complete and weathertight. The Independent Contractor shall maintain a Class A License and carry Workman's Compensation and Public Liability Insurance. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond or guarantee of five percent (5) of the amount of the bid, which shall be a certified check, cash escrow or a bid bond payable to the Treasurer of Warren County, Virginia. The sureties of all bonds shall be of such surety company or companies as are approved by the State and are authorized to transact business in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Such bid bond or check shall be submitted with the understanding that it shall guarantee that the bidder will not withdraw such bid during the period of 30 days following the opening of bids; that if such a bid is accepted, the bidder will accept and perform under the terms of the Invitation for Bids and purchase order or contract. The bid guarantee will be returned upon award of contract. A performance bond in the sum of the contract amount conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract in strict conformity with the plans, specifications, and conditions of the contract. For transportation-related projects authorized under 33.1-12, such bond shall be in a form and amount satisfactory to the public body. A payment bond in the sum of the contract amount. The bond shall be for the protection of claimants who have and fulfill contracts to supply labor or materials to the prime contractor to whom the contract was awarded, or to any subcontractors, in the furtherance of the work. For transportation-related projects authorized under 33.1-12 and partially or wholly funded by the County, such bond shall be in a form and amount satisfactory to the public body. "Labor or materials" shall include public utility services and reasonable rentals of equipment, but only for periods when the equipment rented is actually used at the site. The period of performance of the resultant firm fixed price contract will begin on the day of issuance of Notice to Proceed, and continuing, if not otherwise terminated in accordance with the terms and conditions of this IFB, for 150 days.
