Subject to conditions prescribed by the undersigned, Prequalification Questionnaires from Contractors licensed as follows: B-General Building Contactor with C-20 Warm-Air Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Contractor This project will replace two (2) existing 19,500 CFM air handlers (AHUs), AHU-12 and AHU-13. They are located on the second floor of the Thornton Pavilion and serving the Northwest quadrant of the building. This project will implement new technology called HEDs, High Efficiency Dehumidification System. This system will use the heat recovered from the chilled water return loop to reheat the supply air. The capacity of each new AHU is 32,300 CFM matched to the required airflow of the spaces served. The replacement AHUs will be installed outdoors on the roof which will allow for the existing AHUs to remain operational while the new units are installed. There will be a new 480V/ 120V/208Y electrical switchboard-transformer installed on the roof with its source of power located in the main electrical room (basement). The AHU will connect to the existing chilled water piping at the mechanical room which will be extended to the new AHU location on the roof. Each operating room has an existing duct mounted cooling coil located within the interstitial space and HEPA filters. These components will be demolished as the AHU will be capable of providing dehumidification and HEPA filtration. Existing duct mounted humidifiers serving the ORs are to remain for controlling space humidity during dry Santa Ana weather conditions. No work will take place within the ORs. The AHUs and associated equipment and sensors shall be tied into the existing campus DDC control system front end. Existing AHU 12 & 13 will be demolished and removed once new system is operational. Estimated duration of project is 180 days. Attendance at the Prequalification Conference is mandatory for Contractors attempting to become prequalified to bid on this specific project. The Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $2,750,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The Contractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects, two which have been constructed in California with the Contractor providing services as General Contractor and C20 within the last ten (10) years Projects should have possessed the following construction challenges: Working within an operational I-2 facility with limited construction and staging areas. Tying into existing utility systems and providing MOP to show minimal impact to hospital. Installing utility systems from other floors and great distance while avoiding existing systems. Creating a safe zone for equipment crane lift, in a high traffic area, to roof with patients, visitors, and staff. Protecting property due to weather and rain with roof penetrations and roofing repairs. Working in a manner to minimize noise, dust, and debris. Show proactive and innovative solutions due to unknown and / or unforeseen field conditions.
