Disclaimer: IN ORDER FOR YOUR BID TO BE CONSIDERED A LEGAL BONAFIDE BIDDER ON THE PROJECT, DOCUMENTS MUST BE PURCHASED FROM REMINGTON, VERNICK ENGINEERS DIRECTLY The Borough of Catasauqua proposes improvements to its water distribution system including: the relocation of two water distribution mains crossing Catasauqua Creek; replacement of a stormwater pipe, inlet, drain, and outfall; and replacement of a section of concrete retaining wall. The existing 16" distribution main in Walnut Street, crossing under Catasauqua Creek, has become exposed and is to be replaced with a proposed 16" ductile iron pipe (DIP). The existing 14" distribution water main crossing under Catasauqua Creek is to be replaced with a 14" DIP pipe. The two proposed water main crossing replacements are intended to be installed in parallel with 10 feet center to center spacing approximately 40 feet north of Walnut Street. The existing water main crossings are to be cut, filled with flowable fill, capped, and abandoned in place. Stormwater drainage improvements shall include the replacement of stormwater inlets, piping, and outfall and the construction of a new stormwater manhole. In general, the work includes, but is not limited to the installation of the water mains, valves and appurtenances, abandonment of existing water mains, installation of the storm sewer inlet, piping, manhole, and outfall, sawcutting, excavation and trench restoration, maintenance and protection of traffic, temporary pavement restorations, concrete curbing, permanent pavement restorations, restoration of landscaping, concrete restoration, and all required post construction testing. The scope of the work is more fully described in the Project Specifications and on the Project Plans. Bidders are required to comply with the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of 1961, P.L. 987, No. 442, where the project cost is $25,000 or above for public work or $100,000 or above for locally funded highway and bridge projects.
