The work to be performed under this Contract involves the removal and reconstruction of an existing earthen embankment and the construction of several side channels in the floodplain adjacent to the Naches River, with the following major items of work and other associated items of work as detailed in the contract plans and specifications: Project FC 3664 Class IV Levee Armor 5,611 TON Levee and Channel Excavation, Incl. Haul 27,624 C.Y. Berm, Levee and Stockpile Construction 18,475 C.Y. Quarry Spall 1,469 TON Crushed Surfacing Top Course 936 TON Washington State Department of Ecology funds are involved in the construction of these improvements. This Contract provides for the improvement of the Rambler's Reach of the Naches River, by constructing approximately 6,500 linear feet of floodplain channels and relocating an existing levee. Work includes clearing and grubbing, levee and channel excavation including haul, berm, levee and stockpile construction, class IV levee armor installation, hauling and access via public and private roads, maintaining a private road during construction and restoring once the work is complete, fencing and other work, all in accordance with the attached Contract Plans, these Contract Provisions and Standard Specifications. The work is funded by grant funding from the Washington State Department of Ecology through Floodplains by Design. Site Directions: The site encompasses various project actions along an approximate 2.3 mile river reach of the Naches River located in Yakima County, Washington. Directions to access a few locations are provided below. From Interstate 82 in north Yakima, head east on HWY 12 towards Naches. Turn left at the stop light on W Powerhouse Rd. Take an immediate right to access the lower portion of the Project area through the gate on Yakima County Flood Control Zone District property. Continue on HWY 12 to access the upper portion of the project area, take a left on McCormick Rd, at the Y in the road take a right towards the McCormick levee. Park at the gate, or continue towards the end of Long Lane until reaching the proposed levee setback alignment. Yakima County, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (78 Stat. 252, 42 U.S.C.2000d to 2000d-4) and the Regulations hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded full and fair oppo1tunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award. All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in cash, certified check, cashier's check or surety bond payable to Yakima County Treasurer in an amount equal to five percent (5 %) of the total amount bid. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish a satisfactory performance bond within the time stated in the specifications, the bid proposal deposit shall be forfeited to Yakima County. Informational copies of maps, plans, and specifications are on file for inspection in the temporary office of the County Engineer, 1216 South 18th Street, Yakima, Washington 98901.
