The term for services will be one (1) year with extension opportunity for two (2) additional one (1) year periods The selected contractor will be the primary resource contractor for university initiated/managed projects for the term of contract. Northern Kentucky University is seeking bids from qualified, experienced and responsible flooring contractor firms to provide flooring installation services at any and all of its facilities. The Contractor will provide all materials, labor, tools, supervision and equipment required for each service. Flooring installation services may include demolition and/or removal of existing flooring and accessories, floor preparation for new material, moving furniture in area of work and coordination with NKU project management and/or additional contractors on site. NKU is asking for unit price installation costs of flooring materials that may be NKU purchased flooring material projects or Contractor quoted and purchased material projects. Projects may range from small repair and replace projects to full floor installations. The contractor must be able to respond to all project requests within a timely manner regardless of size or scope of project. Question Deadline 10/09/2023 at 12:00 PM ET NKU currently has a variety of flooring, in varying stages of product life-cycle, installed across campus that include: porcelain tile products, carpet tile and broadloom, hybrid carpet flooring products, vinyl composition tile, luxury vinyl tile and planks, rubber and linoleum products. NKU has some product standards in place and are working to provide more for its various use spaces. The campus interior design project manager is involved in all product selections and works closely with operations and maintenance to ensure all products have complete maintenance instructions and strong warranties. Flooring Installation: All flooring products shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and to the satisfaction of the University. Floor surfaces must be properly prepared in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and to the satisfaction of the University. Floor preparation shall include, but not be limited to, patching/leveling surfaces as necessary, adhesive removal and cleaning. The Contractor shall notify the University representative upon completion of floor preparation to allow for inspection prior to material installation. Flooring material must be protected during installation to insure it is not damaged. A cleaning agent approved by the flooring manufacturer must be used to remove any adhesive or installation products on the surface of the material. The floor material shall be vacuumed, swept or mopped with quality commercial equipment to remove dirt. Flooring material shall be replaced if dirt or soil cannot be removed. All face yarns of carpet materials shall be trimmed. Contractor must report any problems with the flooring material or site conditions to the University representative immediately upon identification of the problem. Installation must cease until the problem has been resolved to the satisfaction of the University. Failure to report these problems to the University will place full financial responsibility for repair or replacement upon the Contractor, including re-installation costs, should the University determine in a post-installation inspection that a problem should have been reported and installation stopped.
