DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The scope of this project is to modernize two existing KONE machine room less traction elevators. Work shall include but not limited to providing new horseway and machine room wiring, travelling cables, hoistway door and equipment, heavy-duty door operators with closed-loop sped control, new door equipment and hardware; servicing existing gearless hoist machines, deflector sheaves, governor and tail weights; and refurbishing existing cab shells, car and counterweight buffer as detailed in specifications. Work on both elevators is to be completed concurrently. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: C-11 - Elevator Contractor BIDDER QUALIFICATIONS: To allow the University to evaluate bidders, each bidder must submit with its bid, a Contractor's Special Statement of Experience. This Contractor's Special Statement of Experience must be provided on the Contractor's letterhead. If your firm provides inaccurate or incomplete information your firm will be found non-responsive. If your firm receives negative project references they may be found non-responsive. To be eligible for consideration of award, the Contractor's Special Statement of Experience must include: 1. Documentation that the bidder has successfully completed the following: a. A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) comparable elevator projects, with a construction value of $600,000 or greater, completed in the past five (5) years that demonstrate the bidder's ability to successfully complete the project with respect to project size, cost, use, complexity, etc. DO NOT include projects currently under construction. b. All submitted projects must be within the immediate nine Bay Area counties. 2. Include the following for each project: (a) project name, (b) project address, (c) owner's name, (d) contract value at award, (e) total Change Order value, (f) completion date, (g) Owner's Representative email address and current phone number and (h) brief scope. 3. All elevator projects on all UC Campuses and National Labs (LBNL, LLNL) within the last 5 years. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements. Estimated construction cost: $600,000.00 Important: Interested respondents must email UC Berkeley Contract Administration at contractadmin-cp@berkeley.edu and request access to this project in portal, even if your company already has access to the system. Otherwise, you will not be able to submit your bid. Please allow at least two business days to request and receive access to the project in portal.
