THE TOWN OF THURMONT, MD. IS ACCEPTING BID PROPOSALS FOR THE FOLLOWING PROJECT: Resurfacing of Blue Ridge Avenue, Locust Drive, Well Drive, Hammaker Street, West Hammaker Street and East Hammaker Street with replacement of limited sections of curb and gutter. The Commissioners of Thurmont are requesting bids on the resurfacing project located within the corporate boundaries of Thurmont, MD (see location map). The bid should be prepared as a lump sum; however, each street should be subtotaled. The Contractor shall resurface the following streets (length and widths) and linear feet of curb/ gutter: The Contractor shall be responsible for all traffic control. The Contractor shall post signs to provide public notice of the project start date at either end of Blue Ridge Avenue and at Hammaker Street/ East Main Street intersection and Locust Drivel Apples Church Road intersection at least two (2) weeks before beginning any work. The Contractor shall provide clean, straight seams at all roadway/ driveway tie-ins. The Contractor shall mill 2 inches, gutter pan to gutter pan or curb to curb where the gutter pan is overlayed. o Where the gutter pan is overlayed, gutter pan must be completely uncovered. Gutter pan shall be overlayed again with at least 1 inch and not more than 2 inches of asphalt. The Contractor shall sweep area to remove all millings and debris. The Contractor shall apply a tack coat for proper bonding. The Contractor shall level any low/ depressed areas. The Contractor shall overlay 2 inches of 12.5 mm asphalt topcoat from gutter pan to gutter pan or curb to curb to match current extent of overlay. The Contractor shall remove and replace approximately 823 linear feet of concrete curb and gutter pan. The Contractor to mark location of all existing manholes and water valve 24 hours prior to milling, so Town staff can verify everything is marked appropriately. The Contractor shall remove asphalt within 12 inches of the existing manholes and water valve by hand. The Contractor shall grade to existing manholes and water valve boxes with asphalt slightly higher than the infrastructure. The Contractor shall seal all asphalt seams after paving. Traffic through active construction zones shall not be delayed for more than 5 minutes. Daily cleaning the work site of all construction debris, leaving the area safe and ready for traffic and pedestrians. The Contractor shall be responsible for the cleanup and repair of site work damaged or altered during construction. The Town of Thurmont shall retain all asphalt millings, which shall be hauled by the Contractor to the Towns East Moser Road storage yard.
