The improvements consist of furnishing all labor and materials for the installation of pile jackets. Steel shells of cast in place concrete piles originally had a protective coating applied such as coal tar epoxy. Due to age of the bridges and environmental exposure, the protective coating has deteriorated, and oxidation has resulted in loss of section of the steel shell. To protect the steel shell, pile jackets will be installed to help prolong the useful life of the bridges. Follow other incidental construction in accordance with the location, notes and details shown on the plans, and as directed by the Engineer. Completion time: all work on this contract must be complete within 330 calendar days. Extensions of contract time due to weather are specified in the standard specifications section 108.7f, weather days. It is estimated a notice to proceed is issued such that work starts on or about February 1, 2024. The performance rating for each contractor shall be used as a prequalification to bid at the time of bid.
