The City of Austin anticipates selecting a qualified professional engineering firm (Consultant) to provide planning, design, and construction phase services. The expanded facility must be operational by 2031. The objective of this project is to increase the plant's resiliency, which includes allowing a major piece of treatment process equipment, such as a clarifier or basin, to be offline to facilitate anticipated maintenance activities, while maintaining the plant's rated capacity. Anticipated improvements include, but are not limited to, increasing the capacity of various treatment processes at a minimum to include up-flow clarifiers, filtration, sludge handling, and a potable water pipeline between the treatment plant and the low service pump station, as well as increasing resiliency by replacing obsolete Programmable Logic Controllers and network switches throughout the plant.
