The City of Delta (the "City") is hereby inviting proposals for the supply of road base, clear crushed rock, and fill sand on an "as and when requested" basis, as specified herein. The City uses aggregates and granular materials for various works such as building roads, and as fill material around water mains, sports fields and cemeteries. The City sends trucks to the depot to pick up materials for delivery to jobsites throughout the City. On larger projects there may be multiple pick-ups per day. By picking up rather than having materials delivered, the City is able to time the delivery of materials to precisely fit its work schedule. The dynamic nature of the work necessitates that materials be picked up and delivery arranged without a notice period, a set number of trucks or a set delivery schedule. The current arrangement provides flexibility in the event a construction schedule is changed or an urgent situation arises. The number of trucks and the delivery schedule can be adjusted to meet daily operational needs. The City is satisfied with the current "on demand" process and feels it represents best value to the taxpayer with cost, time, and environmental benefits. The City has a clear preference for a depot with a short driving time from Delta. Questions should be submitted by October 4, 2023. The dates of the contemplated contract would be from November 1, 2023 to October 31, 2024 with the option to renew, at the City of Delta's discretion, for an additional four 1-year periods, to a final end date no later than October 31, 2028.
