The Base Bid includes the replacement of existing traffic signal control cabinet with an ATC control cabinet and complete refurbishment of the existing span wire traffic signal system. The work shall include complete replacement of traffic signal wiring\cabling; traffic signal heads with backplates; and lane use signage. The existing strain poles, foundations, pedestrian countdown signal heads and push buttons shall be reused as part of this project. Bid Alternate 1 - Refurbish Existing Strain Poles The existing strain poles shall be properly cleaned and prepared to provide a black enamel finish. The work of this bid alternate shall also include all temporary measures to maintain a functional traffic signal system. Bid Alternate 2 - New Strain Poles The existing strain poles shall be removed and replaced with new strain poles provided with a black enamel finish. The new strain poles shall match the existing strain pole heights and designed to support the span wire signal installation. The new stain poles shall be installed on the existing strain pole foundations. The work of this bid alternate shall also include all temporary measures to maintain a functional traffic signal system. All Potential Bidders Are Required to Register With the City in Order To Be Notified of Any Future Changes, Amendments or Additions to the Bid Documents. Registering and any questions regarding the Bid Documents should be directed to Joseph Laverriere, P.E., City Engineer via email at jlaverriere@sacomaine.org. All work associated with this contract shall be completed by May 15, 2024. The active construction period at the intersections of Portland Road (Route 1) and Funtown Parkway shall be restricted to 45 calendar days, excluding any approved periods of work shut down. A certified check or bank draft payable to the OWNER or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and a Surety Company in the amount equal to five percent (5%) of the base bid shall be submitted with each bid. No bid may be withdrawn for at least 90 days after receipt of bids unless released by the OWNER. The Contract Documents, consisting of Advertisement for Bids, Information for Bidders, Bid Form, Bid Bond, Agreement, General Conditions, Supplementary General Conditions, Payment Bond, Performance Bond, Notice of Award, Notice to Proceed, Drawings, Specifications, and Addenda can be obtained by contacting Joseph Laverriere, P.E., City Engineer, Saco Public Works Department: Failure to submit a complete proposal package will nullify your bid. The City of Saco reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals or negotiate with a particular respondent following the bid opening without right or recourse by bidders, if it is in the best interest of the City to do so.
