The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) is issuing this Request for Qualifications for Architect/Engineer Services for a Safety, Security, & Electrical Systems Upgrades project at the Colorado Talking Book Library (CTBL). The Colorado Talking Book Library is unique as the State's Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped and since 1931 has provided reading materials to people who cannot read standard print books. The library also recently began housing the State Publications. The CTBL is housed in a one-story building sited along a major thoroughfare with five lanes of traffic (US 95) on the western edge of Denver. The site faces several challenges with safety, security, lighting, and ADA access. This project will resolve insufficient security camera systems, access control systems, ADA compliant signage, accessible doors for patrons and employees, egress lighting, updating electrical service, lighting upgrades, and more. The Department of Education intends to use a Design/Bid/Build delivery method for this construction project. The project includes a $1,339,930 construction budget plus professional services and project contingencies for a total budget of $1,647,715.
