As of October 23, 2023, a design firm has not yet been selected. Cornell University is seeking proposals from consultants to provide design services for the addition of sprinkler coverage at the Boyce Thompson Institute. Boyce Thompson Institute, located on Tower Road on the main Ithaca Campus, was built in 1978. Currently the building only has a sprinkler system in the basement, which will need to be reviewed to ensure that it conforms to current codes. This project looks to address the absence of the fire protection system on the remaining 4 floors by designing and constructing a complete, modern sprinkler and fire protection system. The services indicated below shall include, but not be limited to: Provide documents for bidding the installation of a complete, code compliant sprinkler system. Provide an opinion of probable cost for the installation. Provide Construction Administration during the installation. Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Participation Pursuant to New York State Executive Law Article 15-A, Cornell University is committed to promoting opportunities for maximum feasible participation of certified MWBE firms and the employment of minority group members and women in the performance of Cornell contracts. Consultants are required to ensure that good faith efforts are made to include meaningful participation.
