The Contractor will dig and replace the existing 6 water line which extends along Grand Street from Floyd Street to Carver Street. The existing water line is predominately 6 transite pipe. The contractor will replace the water line with 6 DR-25 C900 PVC water pipe. All existing service taps will be renewed and services reinstated. Existing water meters, backflow devices, and meter boxes will be maintained. Tracer wire shall be installed the full length of the pipe for location purposes. The Contractor will replace (3) existing hydrant assemblies. Hydrant assemblies shall be a M&H 129 model with (2) hose nozzles and (1) pumper nozzle. Hydrants will be installed and adjusted as so that the base of the plug flange is flush with the ground. Hydrant pumper nozzles shall face the roadway.After installation, the operating nut shall turn freely and the caps shall be easily removed and replaced. Hydrant valves shall be a 6 M&H Resilient-Wedge Gate Valve. The valve shall be epoxy coated from the manufacturer. The valve will be installed within 5 of the fire hydrant assemble at the appropriate depth. The valve will connect the water line to the fire hydrant. The contractor is responsible for ensuring that the piping is adequate to make the connection. A valve box will be installed to allow the operator to open and close the valve. The valve shall open and close with minimal effort. Contractor will make repairs to the road once the pipe, hydrants and fixtures are installed and the line has been tested for pressure and chlorinated for coliform disinfection. The Contractor will reestablish the road to a stable condition and overlay the entire width and length of the road in the project area with 1.5 of 9.5mm asphalt paving. Contractor shall restripe the road immediately after paving. All communication including questions and substitutions shall be in a written form.
