Background Information The City of Gardner Utilities Department is seeking qualifications from qualified consultants to prepare Preliminary and Final Design plans for sanitary sewer improvements as part of the Winwood Sanitary Sewer Relief Line. Qualified consultants must have a strong background in wastewater gravity design, lift station design, sanitary sewer modeling and land acquisition. Gardner, Kansas, is one of the most rapidly growing communities in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Located along Interstate 35, just 25 miles from downtown Kansas City, Gardner is a historic community with a keen vision for the future. Its roots stretch back over 150 years to its founding in 1857 along the route of the Santa Fe and Oregon Trails. Presently, Gardner is home to over 22,000 residents, and includes seven elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school. Gardner is committed to maintaining its traditional small town values while focusing on providing for future growth and development. The primary role of the consultant will be to collect appropriate data to prepare preliminary and final construction plans to construct all improvements required to alleviate issues within the collection system. These tasks will include preliminary and final design of the Winwood Park Relief Sewer Line but are not limited to the analysis of existing flow rates and capacities at the existing Genesis Lift station, existing sanitary sewer lines directly downstream of the Lift Station, Winwood area gravity system flows, KDHE permitting, easement acquisition, and additional flows for servicing proposed development within the drainage basin
