The City of Pittsburgh, Office of Management & Budget, on behalf of the Department of Mobility & Infrastructure, is soliciting bids for Construction Services on Reese Street. This work consists of limited mine grouting, installation of a closely spaced reinforced concrete caisson slope treatment, and limited rock scaling on the northern slope of Mount Washington, just north of 107 Reese Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15211. The existing earthen slope below (north of) the two existing caisson retaining structures, adjacent the Tower base and incorporated building, is sliding. To mitigate the risk of a larger earth slide that might impact the Emerald View Park trail and the railroad tracks far below the trail, the City seeks to stabilize the hillside with a retaining structure. Selective and restricted mine grouting will be required prior to installation of the caissons in order to prevent collapse of the mine opening immediately beneath the caissons installation location.
