As of 10/17/2023, this project is being evaluated. A timeline for award was not determined. BJWSA operates the Chelsea Water Treatment Plant in Okatie, SC. Filter backwash and sedimentation basin sludge from the treatment process is directed to a pond where solids settle, and the supernatant overflows in the BJWSA canal. Dredge the solids and de-water the solids from the alum pond located at BJWSAs Chelsea Water Treatment Plant. The dewatered solids shall be transported to a landfill of the contractors choice. The pond is approximately 18 acres. The pond was last dredged in 2021. The pond will remain in service during dredging. The Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority, hereafter referred to as the "Authority," is requesting proposals from contractors to provide excavation of the alum drying beds located at our Chelsea Water Treatment Plant.
