The base bid of the work shall consist of the removal and disposal of the collapsed railroad bridge and steel truss railroad bridge in the east channel of the Fox River, approximately 900 feet north of Main Street Bridge. Work will include all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project as shown on the plans. Plans include two alternative bid items. Alternate One consists of disassembling the Steel Truss Bridge for future repurposing. Alternate Two adds the removal and disposal of bridge spans over the island and west channel of the Fox River. In-river work within the Fox River is required. The Village of Carpentersville has applied for permits for the project work. Prequalification of Bidders in accordance with the applicable parts of IDOT Bureau of Local Roads and Streets Recurring Special Provision "Bidding Requirements and Conditions for Contract Proposals" (Check Sheet LRS 6) will be required of all bidders on this proposal. Not less than the prevailing rate of wages as found by the Village or the Department of Labor, or as determined by the Court on Review, shall be paid to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics performing work as indicated in the special provisions to the specifications. All proposals must be accompanied by a proposal guarantee in the amount of not less than five percent of bid, or as provided in applicable parts of "Bidding Requirements and Conditions for Contract Proposals" (Check Sheet LRS 6). The right is reserved to reject any or all proposals and to waive technicalities. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Contract documents must be paid on this project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
