Closing Time: 2:30 PM (NT) ** Please note that there has been 2 addendum issued for this project. ** Question Acceptance Deadline Aug 28, 2023 02:30 PM NDT Pricing Lump sum Complete fire alarm system replacement including the fire alarm panel, remote annunciator, initiating and signaling devices along with the installation of new devices and equipment where required at this time including the replacement of a three horns with bells to match existing tones throughout and installation of relays for HVAC shutdown features. Sound levels will be measured throughout the facility and bells will be added in areas that do not meet the minimum sound level requirements. This will ensure CAN/UL S524 2014 code compliance of the fire alarm system. Existing device locations, conduit and wiring will be conserved. Conduit will be added where bells will be added. These will be indicated on contract documents (drawings). An allowance for the addition of 20 new bells, including asbestos abatement, is included in the cost estimate. The buildings fire alarm system consists of approximately 23 manual pull stations, 25 smoke detectors and 19 duct smoke detectors. The system also includes 44 bells, 17 strobes, 1 horn and 2 horn/strobe combination units. Different sound types cannot be present within a fire alarm system, three horns will need to be replaced with bells to rectify this issue. Addressable interface modules are installed to accept dry contacts from sprinkler zone flow switches, supervised valves and low-pressure switches and fire alarm relays are installed for specific control functions. There are several standalone systems existing in this facility that are tied to the fire alarm system. These are kitchen range hood chemical extinguisher, computer room fire Inergen suppression system, sprinkler system and building management system. The fire alarm system is integrated with the building management system to provide shutdown of the air handling equipment on a fire alarm condition. This will need to be modified as a life safety system cannot depend on a building management system for life safety control functions. Monitoring of the fire alarm system is done by Troy Life & Fire Safety Ltd. and two means of communication is done via a phone line dialer and a cellular dialer. Official bid documents must be obtained from www.bgis.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
