The work includes the construction of approximately: 160 linear feet of trenchless 24" steel casing pipe with 10" DIP watermain carrier pipe, and other related tasks to ensure the successful installation of a secondary raw watermain parallel to the existing watermain underneath Highway 71, all in accordance with Plans and Specifications. A bid security as defined by Iowa Code Chapter 26.8 and in the amount of not less than 5 percent of the total amount bid, drawn in favor of Milford Municipal Utilities, shall accompany each bid. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless Milford Municipal Utilities from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two years from and after acceptance of the contract. Work shall commence upon approval of the contract by the Board of Trustees and as stated in the Notice to Proceed. Work under the Contract must be substantially complete by October 3, 2025, and complete and ready for final payment in accordance with the contract documents by November 21, 2025. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities and informalities therein and to award the Contract to other than the lowest bidder if, in their discretion, the interest of the Owner would be best served thereby.
