Overlay an approximate 4050 linear foot segment of the Constitution Trail from N. Towanda Avenue to Boulder Drive by paving a second layer over the existing asphalt trail surface. Actual start and end locations are marked on the trail surface for bidding and construction purposes. The Scope of Work for this project is as follows. 1. Town staff have identified areas of which significant and extensive asphalt deterioration and breakdown exist. These areas will require a 1 1/2 inch milling to remove the existing asphalt. An aggregate asphalt 1 1/2 inch binder layer would then be added. 2. Three manholes exist on the trail surface. One and one-half inch steel riser rings or paving rings will be required. All headers and butt joints must meet the existing asphalt surface. 3. After the binder layer areas have been completed, install an overlay surface layer over the entire trail. SS-1H tack coat will be applied at a rate of .10 gallons per squareyard and properly cured prior to overlay. Overlay shall be at a depth of 1.5 inches (0.125 ft.) and consist of Hot Mix Asphalt Surface Course, Mix C, N50. 4. Contractor instructions: Project Description: Asphalt overlay an approximate 4050 linear foot segment of the Constitution Trail from N. Towanda Avenue to Boulder Drive. The Town of Normal reserves the right to reject any or all bids received. All written questions may be submitted Thursday, August 10, 2023, and continuing through Monday, August 21, 2023. Contract award Tuesday, September 5, 2023
