To improve the existing spillway capacity requires construction of an opening across the full width of the existing dam crest, which when combined with the existing CMP spillway culverts will be able to flow the upgraded spillway flow required by the new Dam Safety Regulations, basically a concrete bridge or a box culvert structure which will carry full highway traffic loading as the dam provides an embankment whose crest serves as part of a Provincial Highway which has to be kept continuously open for public vehicle and pedestrian traffic. To be able to maintain traffic, construction of the additional spillway capacity necessitates doing the work in five stages. Documents can be obtained from www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca The project will be delayed and re-tendered next year.
