The City of Southport ("Southport") seeks professional consulting services from qualified firms licensed to do business in North Carolina to provide a comprehensive review and analysis of the current parking conditions, make recommendations, and identify strategies to address current parking needs, with consideration of anticipated growth. The selected consultant(s) will focus on two main components: 1). Existing Parking Conditions and Recommendations Study the existing parking infrastructure, peak and lowdemand times, turnover, parking demand, and identify weaknesses. All modes of transportation/parking should be considered, including automobiles, gold carts, bicycles, and pedestrian access. 2). Future Parking Needs, Requirements, and Recommendations Develop strategies for improved parking options; investigate paid parking, free resident parking, off-site parking, and public transportation; cite possible locations for additional parking; forecast parking needs for the next 20- 25 years; consider bicycles, golf carts, automobiles, and pedestrian needs; incorporate existing local and regional transportation plans and the growth rate of the area. The first component should be completed and presented before being authorized to complete the second component. The proposed scope of work includes engagement with elected officials, City staff, advisory boards, and the public. If you have any questions, please contact the Assistant City Manager at (910) 457- 79000 ext. 1010
