The main components of construction include: Installation of a new steel cap on the existing First Narrows South Shaft; Construction of one deep vertical shaft to support tunnel excavation and two deep vertical shafts with enlargements for valve chamber construction; Excavation of a 1.4 km long tunnel using a roadheader; Installation of large diameter steel water mains; Installation of above and below grade bypass piping; Construction of two underground valve chambers; Construction of a backup power building; Construction of three underground flow meter chambers; Installation of a smaller diameter HDPE pipe sliplined within the existing Capilano Main No. 4; and Regrading of each construction area and hardscape restoration components.
