This is a RFP to select a consulting engineer for design and construction administration for improvements to a pump station in compliance with a FEMA Bric Grant. The flood proofing measures at the Joint Meeting Pump Station in Rutherford, Bergen County, New Jersey. The pump station is situated in the 100-year flood zone and the 500-year flood zone. Flooding has threatened the site during events such as Hurricane Sandy. The site has a one-story brick structure above ground and three stories below ground, with a buried oil tank to fuel an emergency generator. Sanitary waste water flows into the station through a 36” sewer from Highland Cross after passing through a manhole. The BCUA intends to construct a five-foot T-wall with concrete footing to encircle the pump station building. In order to access the pump station, a sliding flood gate shall be incorporated into the design of the flood wall. To protect the pump station from surge in the 36” influent sewer, the sewer will be modified with a throttling valve to control the flow. The area between the building and the proposed wall will be protected by installing a storm water pump to direct the rain water and seeping Ground water away from the base of the pump station and entry points of the building. Timeline: The project has a three year Period of Performance. Currently this is from September 2022 through August 31st, 2025
