The Municipal Improvement Plan of the Town of Olds ensures the continual monitoring and renewal of aging infrastructure to prevent system failure. Currently, the 52nd Street underground utilities and surface infrastructure have exceeded their lifespan and require replacement. Phase 2 of 52nd Street, spanning from 51st to 53rd Avenue, will commence in late June or early July 2023. The 52nd Street Revitalization initiative will involve the replacement of underground sewer and water lines, installation of new sidewalks, curb and gutter, and asphalt overlay. Phase 2 is scheduled to conclude by September 30, 2023, subject to weather conditions. Ruby Rock Asphalt Works Ltd. will undertake the project construction. Throughout Phase 2 of the 52nd Street Revitalization Project, a portion of 52nd Street will be closed due to construction activities. Community facilities along the construction zone will remain open, and access to homes and facilities in the construction area will be available via the back laneway. Please adhere to the detour signage. What to expect during construction A temporary above-ground water system will replace existing home connections to ensure no disruption to services while new underground infrastructure is being installed. This will require the contractor to gain access to affected properties during installation and dismantling of the temporary water system. The Town will do its best to reduce any inconveniences, and appreciates your cooperation.
