The Township of North Dundas is in the process of drilling two new drinking water wells on Lafleur Road in Winchester, Ontario. The site is approximately 5 acres, and located within an old gravel quarry. In 2022 a test well was drilled and a pump test was completed for the required EA process. The 24-hour pump test indicated good results for production, however the results of the pump test did show a draw down of the existing surface pond levels and total coliform was detected in the sampling. In order to move forward with drilling of the primary production and standby wells the Township has to fill the pond contained within the site to ensure the drilled wells will do not become GUDI (groundwater under the direct influence of surface water).
