Small Business Set-Aside for Award Priority The Virginia Department of Forestry is seeking a contractor to perform treatments on invasive wavyleaf grass (Oplismenus undulatifolius) through foliar application with backpack sprayers at Sky Meadows State Park and along adjacent private land in Clarke County, Virginia. Treatment/Application must be completed before August 31, 2023. If wavyleaf plants begin seeding before this date, work must stop immediately. The work consists of successfully identifying and treating small patches of wavyleaf grass along an approximate 2.5 mile portion of the Appalachian Trail and a connected side trail, and within an approximately 30 acre adjacent transect identified on the attached maps. The section along the trail shall be completed first. The trail shall be traveled in its entirety surveying for wavyleaf. Wherever wavyleaf is found, it shall be treated and surveys for additional plants in the adjacent forest within 10 meters of the trail should occur. Areas off the trail where wavyleaf has previously been found (marked on map) should also be surveyed within 10 meters of the last known point. Treatment area is within forested habitat and some of the area is densely vegetated. The area can be accessed on foot from two points, marked on map. Pictures of the understory are attached to this solicitation as a point of reference.
