Project Description: The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) seeks to hire a Consultant or team to provide professional engineering services for the development of the Alameda/Contra Costa I-80 Bus on Shoulder (BOS) Project. This Project proposes to assess the opportunity for a BOS project that would allow buses to travel within the right shoulder of I-80 during congested peak periods at distinct locations to reduce peak-period bus delays, improve bus travel time reliability, and improve viability of bus use on the corridor. The exact limits of the BOS will be determined during project development pending a detailed feasibility analysis and design refinement. Consultant will analyze I-80 in Alameda and Contra Costa counties to determine recommended BOS segments, and prepare a Project Initiation Document (PID, assumed to be a PSR-PDR) for the recommended BOS segments. The precise physical limits and time periods of the BOS will be determined through the project development analysis. DBE goal for this project is 11%. MTC expects the work to commence on or about November 1, 2023, and to be completed no later than June 30, 2025.
