This project will address deficiencies in existing pedestrian facilities within County maintained rights-of-way that were found to be non-compliant with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The County conducted a Self Evaluation in 2014 to identify these deficiencies and subsequently developed a Transition Plan to address the deficiencies. The Transition Plan commits to addressing the deficiencies found in the 2014 self evaluation over a 10 year period beginning in the 2016 fiscal year. Sidewalk and ramp work will be performed along County roads in residential and commercial areas throughout the County. The work includes complete reconstruction of approximately 20 miles of sidewalk and repair or replacement of 2,218 curb ramps, 1,177 driveway aprons, and 3,747 other non-compliant sidewalk features. This project is included in the county’s fy 2024-2029 Capital Improvement Program. As of August 2, 2023, further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
