The project consists of renovating the lower-level lobby, existing corridor and build out of the existing unfinished storage areas. The scope of work will include the following: demolition of some existing walls, doom and floor slab, installation of new walls, doors, cabinets/counters, flooring, ceilings, and lighting. The area to be renovated is approximately 4,100 SF. The work under the proposed contract shall commence within two (2)weeks of the written Notice to Proceed or depending on construction schedule on Bid Form. Work shall commence no later than September 11, 2023. Work shall be completed in 12-16 weeks or a late completion date of March 30,2024. The contractor's bid bond, cashier's or certified check shall be in an amount of 5% of the bid price made payable to the City of Washington, Iowa. The bid bond will act as security that, if awarded a contract by resolution of the Council, the Bidder will enter into a contract at the prices bid and furnish the required performance and payment bonds and certificate of insurance. The bid bond will be forfeited and the proceeds retained as liquidated damages if the bidder fails to execute a contract or file acceptable performance and payment bonds and an acceptable certificate of insurance within fifteen (15) days after the acceptance of his proposal by resolution of the council. No bidder may withdraw a proposal within thirty (30) days after the date set for opening bids The City of Washington reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. The City of Washington reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days from the date of receipt of bids.
