University of Toronto 89 Chestnut Residence is planning for a replacement of an existing indoor diesel generator with a new diesel or natural gas generator, as the existing generator has reached the end of its service life and is no longer code compliant. Scope of work is anticipated to include but is not limited to the following: 1.Replacement of existing generator and associated system(s)/equipment(s). 2.HVAC upgrades to address proper ventilation within the generator room. 3.Replacement of ATS (automatic transfer switch). 4.Generator room upgrades to meet current code requirements ie fire rating, size, clearance. TIMELINE: As of early August 2023, the Request For Proposals has been awarded by the owner. The engineer will conduct a Feasibility Study, with an intent to implement these improvements in full service as second stage of the process. This project will be completed in two parts, Part One will include Conceptual Design services and the preparation of a Class C construction cost estimate; Final deliverable of this study will be a Report. Preliminary design and study completion are underway. Part two will involve full professional engineering services from Preliminary Design to the end of construction and the warranty period, and the preparation of a Class A construction cost estimate. Tender and construction schedules will be finalized in 2024.
