Construction of the first segment of the Swannanoa Greenway. Work includes construction of a greenway trail along the Swannanoa River, retaining walls, culvert construction and wetland restoration. Project also includes surface, street and bridge improvements near the intersection of Bleachery Blvd and Swannanoa River Road (NC81/US74). This work includes ADA Curb Ramp construction, multi-use path construction, and connection to the Swannanoa Greenway trail. All questions concerning this Advertisement for Bids should be submitted via email to: Dustin Clemens, Project Manager dclemens@ashevillenc.gov Questions pertaining to the bid will be answered in the form of a written addenda posted to the City of Asheville's bid page. Questions due by: 5:00 p.m., July 24, 2023 The award of the Contract will be made to the lowest responsible, responsive bidder, who, in the opinion of the City, is qualified to perform the work required and is responsible and reliable. When Alternate Bid items are required in the Bid, the Contract will be awarded to that responsible Bidder whose Bid for the Alternate or combination of Alternates, selected by the City, is the lowest. License Requirements: All bidders must have current North Carolina General Contractor licenses with the appropriate classification for all work of the project at the time of the bid All bidders are required to submit cash, a cashier's check, or certified check in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid proposal. In lieu of said money, the bidder can submit a bid bond executed by a corporate surety licensed in North Carolina to execute said bonds. This deposit shall be retained be retained if the lowest responsible bidder failed to execute the contract within ten (10) days of the award or fails to give satisfactory surety as required in North Carolina General Statutes Section 143-129. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond and a payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount. Those bonds shall meet the requirements of North Carolina General Statutes Section 143-129 and of Article 3 of Chapter 44A of the North Carolina General Statutes.
