The RCKC is requesting bids to replace and repair guardrail throughout Kalamazoo County. Questions regarding this specification may be directed to Bill Oxx, Road Maintenance Superintendent, at (269) 381-3170 ext. 286, woxx@kalamazoocountyroads.com This proposal includes the option of bidding identified locations and an option to bid "per foot" of repair and new installations for future work. Work to include new installation, removal/reinstallation, and disposal of damaged guardrail components. The guardrail is to be installed using posts on 6'3" centers and to include wood block-outs for wood posts and composite block-outs for steel posts. All posts must be installed utilizing a driving mechanism. Auguring posts is not an acceptable method of installation. FLEAT 350 end assemblies are to be constructed at the terminal ends as determined by RCKC, meeting MDOT Standards for Specifications. Various sites may also require terminating a run of guardrail at a culvert or bridge head wall and /or spanning a small structure. Transitions may include anchoring end shoes to concrete, steel, or wood head walls or bridge rails. Reusable Fleat 350 end section components should be utilized in the repair of each structure. Posts, W beam rail, and Thrie beam rail in good condition (no dents, scratches or rust) may be used. Salvaged guardrail components in good condition may be utilized. If it is determined that used guardrail components are to be retained, then RCKC will provide a location for their storage. All scrap components are to be disposed of properly. All work is to be completed at each location before moving to another job site location. The RCKC reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, waive irregularities and to award the proposal(s) they deem in the best interest of the RCKC. If there are questions please contact Tara Hendricks, RCKC Administrative Assistant - Operations, at (269) 381-3170, ext. 285 or by e-mail at thendricks@kalamazoocountyroads.com. Please take notice the RCKC will be providing request for proposal opening meetings by telephonic conferencing or video conferencing, in a manner in which the vendors, general public and the members of the RCKC may participate The RCKC reserves the right to reject any and all proposals received as a result of this bid/RFP, or to negotiate separately with any source whatsoever, in any manner necessary, to serve the best interests of the RCKC. The RCKC does not intend to award a purchase order solely on the basis of any response made to this request, or otherwise pay for the information solicited or obtained.
