Reference Number 0000324918 *The Charter Township of Grand Blanc is seeking a qualified contractor to demolish a commercial building located at 5338 Dort Hwy, Grand Blanc MI, 48507. The building is approximately 1800 Sqft constructed out of wood. The building is constructed on a cement slab. All utilities will be disconnected prior to demolition*. The deadline for clarifications is July 31, 2023 at 4:00 pm. Please contact Greg Boggs at Boggs@gbtgov.com with bidding questions. Job Location 5338 Dort Hwy, Grand Blanc, MI 48507 General Requirements - Insurance Required - Safety Standards Plan Bid award by the Township Board on August 8, 2023 at 6:00 pm. Notice of Award and Notice to Proceed on August 9, 2023 Demolition will include: o Removal and disposal of all items in the buildings including unknown chemicals (must be disposed of appropriately) o Removal of the Township Water Meter and return to the Township o Demolition of the main building and all additions o Demolition of the concrete slab o Abandonment of any unknown wells or utilities found during demolition o Site grading to provide sufficient drainage without ponding of any kind o Site restoration including vegetation establishment The buildings is mostly empty but does contain from containers of chemicals in the south eat corner of an unknown substance. Care must be taken to identify the contents of the containers, carefully remove the containers, and dispose of the contents and the containers before any demolition can occur. In addition to the chemicals being stored in the building, there are some tires that will need to be disposed of appropriately. The contractor shall remove the tires and take them to a recycling facility. Manifest indicating how many tires were recycled and where they were recycled shall be provided to the Township once demolition is complete. The building was serviced by the Township water service that has been disconnected at the ROW. The 1" copper service still exist and must be removed by the contractor using means as to not damage any other facilities. The building also contains a water meter in an unknown location in the building which needs to be removed by the contractor and retuned to the Township prior to demolition. The building was serviced by the Township sewage disposal system. The sewer lead has been cut and capped at the ROW. The 6" PVC sewer lead still exist and must be removed by the contractor using means as to not damage any other facilities. The building constructed of wood which as become brittle and structurally unsafe. The contractor shall demolish the structure and all additions in a safe manner as to not effect adjacent properties. The Contractor shall utilize dust control during the demolition. All debris from the demolition must be removed from the property. The property shall be swept for nails, screws, or any other sharp objects to above damage to equipment in the future. The building was constructed on a concrete pad. The pad shall be demolished by the contractor and removed from the property. Once demolition is complete, the contractor shall provide a finish grade to the property. Survey grade equipment shall be used to make sure sufficient slope is provided and the property is free of areas that will hold water later. Top soil may be needed in some areas as agreed upon by the contractor and the Township. Once the property is graded, grass seed shall be planted with straw (matting, blown, or manually spread) to help retain moisture. Hydroseeding will not be accepted.
