Work under this contract requires a contractor to provide labor, material, equipment, transportation and supervision necessary for the service and maintenance of automatic temperature control systems throughout city-owned buildings. The City of Taunton reserves the right to waive any minor informalities, to cancel this bid, or to reject any and all bids, in whole or in part, if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the City. Bids will be valid only when accompanied by complete resumes and qualifications of designated company personnel that are to perform all related temperature control and computer work at the school locations. All Bids for the project are subject to the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws Chapter Chapter 149. Minimum labor rates have been established for the project by the Commissioner of Labor and Industries for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as set forth in the Contract Documents. Questions concerning this IFB must ONLY be submitted in writing to Andrew W. Sukeforth, Director of Procurement, before 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Questions may be mailed, delivered or emailed to asukeforth@taunton-ma.gov. Written responses will be emailed to all bidders on record as having received the IFB package. Bidders must submit a five percent (5%) bid deposit with their bid. The bid deposit must be in the form of a bid bond issued by a surety company certified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; a certified treasurer’s or cashier’s check drawn on a responsible bank or trust company payable to the City of Taunton. The bidder awarded the contract is required to submit within (5) five days, a 100 % payment bond & 100% performance bond drawn on a responsible bank or trust company authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and made payable to the City of Taunton. In case to whom a contract is awarded shall fail or neglect to submit a payment & performance bond within the five days as pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 149, the City may determine that the Contractor has abandoned the contract and may award the contract to the next lowest responsible and responsive bidder. THIS CLAUSE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. One Year Contract with two (2), 1-year option to renew at the City’s discretion. The initial term of the Service and Maintenance Contract shall commence on date of execution (target date of August 15) and remain in effect until June 30, 2024. Subsequent renewal years shall be from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 and July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. There will be no pre-bid site visit for this solicitation.
