a) Project Background-The Provincially-owned Carseland Bow Headworks System provides an essential secured water supply for irrigation, industrial, municipal and domestic uses throughout the Bow and Oldman River drainage basins. This water supply system is valued at over $1 billion and is critical to support the local economy, provide safe drainage and flood control and ensure a secured water supply for the Bow River Irrigation District and 250,000 Acres of irrigated crop land. The headgates consist of three radial gates and two Sluice gates. All 5 gates are in need of recoating and new seals to extend their lifespan. b) Project Objectives- The Contractor will deliver the Services through Mechanical service technicians, QA/QC, and industry-standard reporting to Agriculture & Irrigation. The selected contractor will be responsible for the disconnection and removal of the 5 radial gates, Loading and transporting them to a qualified sandblasting and recoating facility, Supply and install new side and bottom seals, reinstallation and commissioning c) Project Structure/Business Model- Operation and maintenance for this project is delivered from the Vulcan WIOB field office with management and technical support provided from the Calgary office. The area maintenance and operations Team Lead is located in Vulcan, and reports to the Bow Basin Operations & Infrastructure Manager located in Calgary, AB. d) Key Stakeholders - The stakeholders and beneficiaries of this project include the Bow River Irrigation District (BRID), numerous private irrigators located throughout Southern Alberta, municipalities and industry who rely on this conveyance system to provide a secured water supply, directly supporting the local economy and the public of Alberta. Cancelled - Plans to re-tender has not been determined.
