As of August 22, 2023 this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing bike racks. The bike racks shall be Bicycle Parking Rack U190-SF-P as manufactured by Madrax, a division of Graber Manufacturing, Inc. Bicycle racks are to be black in color and powder coated. Contractor shall store products in original undamaged packaging and containers until ready for installation. Contractor shall handle powder coated products with sufficient care to prevent any scratches or damage to the finish. Bicycle rack locations shall be laid out by the Contractor and coordinated and approved by the Engineer or a representative from the City prior to installation. The bicycle racks shall be installed according to the manufacturers specifications. The bicycle racks shall be surface mounted to the existing concrete, brick, or concrete pavers using 4 - 3/8 x 3 spikes that are tamper resistant zinc plated concrete anchors. Basis of Payment: This work shall be paid for at the Contract unit price per EACH for BICYCLE RACKS. Prior to the deadline for receipt of Bids, each Bid Bond, Certified or Cashiers Check or Bank Draft shall be submitted to the Purchasing Department in City Hall located at 150 Dexter Court, Elgin IL.., in a sealed envelope which is plainly marked on the outside with the name and address of the Bidder, the title of the Project.All proposals must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, Certified or Cashier's Check or a Bank Draft in an amount not less than 10 percent of the bid, payable without condition to the City of Elgin, Illinois, which sum shall be forfeited in case the successful bidder fails to enter into a binding contract and provide a properly executed contract surety bond within 20 days after the date the contract is awarded by the city council. The successful bidder shall be required to furnish a satisfactory contract bond to the City of Elgin by a surety company authorized to do business in the state of Illinois covering the full amount of the contract. The bidder shall submit, upon request by the City of Elgin, a list of qualified references for projects of similar size and scope of this project. Proposals withdrawn may not be resubmitted at the same letting. Each bidder shall satisfy the City of Elgin as to their ability, financially, to carry out the work. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids or to waive technicalities and any informality in any bid. All work under this contract shall comply with the Prevailing Wage Rate Act of the State of Illinois, Illinois Revised Statutes, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et. Seq and Elgins Responsible Bidders Ordinance.
