As of August 3,2023, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. 1. Scope of work for playground will include play equipment areas for 2-5, 5-12 and an optional 13+ year old area. The design can have a combination of both post and deck and freestanding components. 2. Design should offer complexity of elements and have an absence of obvious play path. Multiple climbing features are encouraged. 3. Incorporate shade into the design. 4. A mix of inclusive, cutting edge/ contemporary and traditional play elements are desired. 5. Consideration for play element as a focal piece 6. Natural/ earth tone color scheme. 7. Playground components desired: Large variety of accessible play options Multisensory play experiences Rope climbing apparatus/Multiple climbing options Include educational/interactive components Include a variety of climbing, crawling, and slide play features Incorporate shade options Swing area with standard, accessible and toddler swings 8. Equipment and surfacing proposed must be IPEMA certified, ADA accessible and meet all guidelines/standards set forth in the CPSC and ASTM. 9. Surfacing will be a combination of engineered wood fiber at appropriate depth for equipment proposed and poured in place (PIP) rubber with a turn down edge per the site plan. 10. Prospective vendors to include 3D renderings, top-view images, bill of materials and compliance and technical data for proposed designs. 11. Contractor shall provide design plans for each area. Proposed designs should fit within play boundaries provided per the site plan. Consideration will be given for alternate plans that have play components that do not fit within the proposed site plan. Final plan will be coordinated with City of Columbia landscape architect, Todd Martin. 12. Alternate playground option with only engineered wood fiber is encouraged to review play value for multiple options within budget. 13. Equipment warranty for all items must have complete details included with RFP package. 14. Contractors shall meet manufacturer's specifications and industry standards for installation. 15. Replacement parts book and Installation Instructions shall be supplied for all proposed playground components. 16. Contractor shall provide age appropriate signage for each area. 17. Contractor shall provide approved site plans upon award See Exhibit - Site Plan for desired playground layout and parameters for play equipment. The map is for informational purposes only and it is the responsibility of the Contractor to verify all measurements on site. CAD files and PDF base plans are available per request. All Offerors shall be registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State's Office by the response deadline. Any Offerors who are not registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State's Office at the time submissions are due may be found nonresponsive and may be withdrawn from consideration. The City of Columbia requires every person or business engaged in or intending to engage in any calling, business, occupation or profession, in whole or in part, within the limits of the city to pay an annual license fee and obtain a business license as provided in the ordinance. A valid City of Columbia Business License must be in place prior to issuance of a Notice to Proceed and valid City of Columbia Purchase Order. Business License inquiries, requirements, and application can be accessed at electronically.
