The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (Authority) has determined that the switchgear draw out circuits breakers and automatic transfer switches in the long term parking garage main switchgear room have reached the end of their useful life and require replacement. There are five (5) existing multi-section switchgear that serves the Long Term Parking Garage (LTPG) and select remote areas such as the Toll Plaza, Blue vertical circulation building (VCB), and the Police/ Maintenance building. The switchgear is in the main electrical room on level 1 of the LTPG where it was originally installed in 1990. The switchgear breakers are approximately 32 years old and approaching the end of their useful life. Switchgear parts or reconditioned breakers for the existing General Electrical equipment can still be obtained from the used market using 30-year-old technology. Since space is limited the scope of work is to replace the existing draw-out breaker with new to be installed in the existing switchgear. Additionally, there are two (2) Zenith transfer switches that serve the same facilities. The transfer switches were originally installed in 1990 and are at the end of life being approximately 32 years old. These switches are no longer supported by the manufacturer.
